Goodness and love are found in the most unexpected places, at the most unexpected times, with the most unexpected people.
It happens when you’re not looking for it, in the times you’re not planning for it. It is almost so subtle that it could be easy to miss.
After years of wondering, dreaming, and questioning where I’d meet my person and who they would be, I met him in the most mundane and unglossy place: the grocery store.
It wasn’t a particularly picture-perfect time to meet. I was frustrated about working yet another barista job that seemed to have no significance on my career. And truthfully, I let go of searching for love and partnership – as it didn’t seem to be working out for me. For years I was focused on “embracing the tensions of the in-between,” but I forgot that this is the exact place where love and goodness take root and grow.
As I reflect on my experiences, it becomes clear that every event during this season was shaping who I am today. I was deeply frustrated by my job, believing it was not contributing to my future career. However, it was this very job that introduced me to my best friend, my life partner, and the person I can’t imagine living without.
For years I was focused on “embracing the tensions of the in-between,” but I forgot that this is the exact place where love and goodness take root and grow.
Perhaps you, too, find yourself in a season that doesn’t make sense. Maybe you’re feeling a bit stuck and wondering how you’re ever going to get to where you envision yourself going. Don’t forget that even here, in the in-between, there is goodness. Even here, in the in-between, love is already growing. And let me assure you, it’s going to be well worth the wait.
{Shoutout to my extraordinary hubby. I feel a little more grateful and even more in love with him every day.}
Love,
Zoë Alexandra
